Overview
DOCCS offers an extensive array of programs and services for incarcerated individuals to assist them in redirecting their lives and becoming productive, law-abiding members of society.
Programs include guidance and counseling services, library and law library services, religious services, educational and vocational training, alcohol and substance abuse treatment, family development, and many others.
Program Services' Goals
Goal 1
To provide educational programs and vocational training, library services, counseling and treatment services.
Goal 2
To provide opportunities for religious practices, family services, and volunteer programs at each facility.
Goal 3
To provide continuous Temporary Release programs and transitional services to assist with reintegration.

Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison hosted a graduation at Shawangunk CF, honoring 38 students who earned associate degrees from Ulster CC.
Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison celebrated its largest graduation ceremony at Green Haven CF, honoring 41 graduates who earned associate degrees from Columbia-Greene CC.
Journalist and formally incarcerated individual Keri Blakinger visited Auburn CF to speak with Cornell Prison Education Program students about her journey and work.
The Pawsitive for Heroes program celebrated the graduation of service dogs from Wyoming and Groveland Correctional Facilities.
The Building Maintenance class at Washington CF built a doghouse for canine Emmett. Emmett is part of Washington’s Canine Training Program.
Lakeview SICF welcomed the Pawsitive for Heroes program, which offers service dogs to veterans in Western NY. Participants help train puppies for up to 8 months.
Green Haven CF held its first Beyond the Block event, bringing together incarcerated performers to share powerful stories of courage, growth, and redemption with their peers.
Lakeview SICF held its third Book Showdown. Five teams participated by answering questions on “Swindle” by Gordan Korman and “I Know What You Did Last Summer” by Lois Duncan.
Incarcerated individuals participating in Riverview CF’s horticulture program assembled and donated holiday centerpieces to Ogdenburg’s Snackpack Program.
Riverview CF’s horticulture program donated 600 pumpkins to local elementary students in Ogdensburg, Lisbon, and Heuvelton. The students were surprised and thankful to have their own pumpkins!
