Associate Commissioner/Chief of Staff to the Commissioner
Melissa Coolidge was named the Associate Commissioner/Chief of Staff to the Commissioner, effective December 2021. Prior to that she served as the Deputy Superintendent for statewide Accreditation.
Among the duties as Associate Commissioner/Chief of Staff, she is the Department liaison with the DOCCS Clemency Bureau to the Governor’s Office and sits as the Commissioner’s representative on many standing committees within DOCCS and has oversight of the Department’s Office of Victim Assistance.
She joined the Department in 1989 as a Keyboard Specialist and worked 25 years in a correctional facility.
She is a member of the American Correctional Association, New York Corrections and Youth Services Association, and the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation.
