The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) is empowered to develop and enforce the rules and regulations it finds necessary to implement laws enacted by the New York State Legislature.

DOCCS also maintains comprehensive directives detailing proper management and operation of its many functions. These documents also provide general information/guidance to assist regulated parties in complying with statutes, rules, and other legal requirements.
