Motor Vehicle Operator/SG-7

Motor Vehicle Operators drive a variety of motor vehicles, including automobiles, buses, trucks, and ambulances to transport people, material, and equipment. Incumbents may post manifests and other records of goods and people transported to document their safe delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Candidates may be required to possess a CDL, Class A, B, C, or General Class D license.

Tractor Trailer Operator/SG-8

Positions in this series drive large tractor trailer vehicles over-the-road on a full-time basis. The trailers may be flatbed, box or refrigerated types.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess and maintain a valid New York State driver's license to operate a Class A motor vehicle. Appointees will also be required to obtain and maintain driver’s license endorsements required under the New York State Department of Transportation’s regulations for the transportation of specific types of products in the course of their normal duties; an example of this would be a hazardous materials endorsement.

Tandem Tractor Trailer Operator/SG-12

Positions in this series drive large tractor trailer vehicles over-the-road on a full-time basis.  The trailers may be flatbed, box or refrigerated types.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess and maintain a valid license to operate a Class A motor vehicle in New York State, and meet requirements of the New York State Thruway Authority for tandem trailer operation.  Appointees will also be required to obtain and maintain driver’s license endorsements required under the New York State Department of Transportation’s regulations for the transportation of specific types of products in the course of their normal duties; an example of this would be a hazardous materials endorsement.

Industrial Training Supervisor

Industrial Training Supervisors oversee operations in a specialized area of manufacturing, production, or industrial service as indicated by the parenthetic title assigned to each position. Individuals in this position will also train and supervise incarcerated individuals assigned to that specialized area. They are classified only in industrial programs at the industrial operations of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), known currently as DOCCS Industries, under the brand name of “Corcraft”.
