Overview
The Executive Clemency Bureau/Certificate Review Unit is responsible for receiving and processing New York State executive clemency applications pardons, commutations of sentence, and/or reprieve requests for the Office of the Governor.
Mission
To receive and process Certificate of Relief from Disabilities (CRD) and Certificate of Good Conduct (CGC) applications submitted to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), and review and process all CRD’s that are granted to incarcerated individuals by a DOCCS Superintendent at the time of their release.
Core Services
- Screen candidates for satisfaction of the Executive Clemency eligibility requirements as set by the Governor's office.
- Gather materials concerning clemency applications.
- Respond to letters from applicants and others regarding clemency applications.
