Overview

Students are instructed in baking bread and pastry, preparing all types of foods, kitchen sanitation, and the proper procedures and techniques used in serving food.

This goals of this course are to provide students with entry level skills in the food trades.

Individuals interested in this program should: 

  • possess a high school diploma or equivalency (HSE);
  • be enrolled in a HSE or a pre-HSE class; or
  • be on a required program list for the HSE or pre-HSE program. 

This is self-paced instruction to develop students' abilities in entry level skills as defined by modules.

NYS Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program is available.

ServSafe certification program for safe food handling recognized by the National Restaurant Association is available.
